Super 4 Blackjack Progressive Jackpot
Super 4 is a progressive blackjack side bet based on the four cards consisting of the player's and dealer's initial two cards. There are at least four known versions. In both, the player wins on a dealer blackjack. The amount of the win depends on the poker value of all four cards. Included in our NEW STAX Super 4 Blackjack is a Must Hit Progressive Jackpot. The Must Hit Progressive feature will be randomly triggered after the hand is completed. No additional wagering required to qualify and it could hit at any time regardless of your hand. Now, that's what we call getting #LuckyAtLIVE!
I recently met a friend for dinner at The Mirage and decided to look around since I was a few minutes early. (Unrelated, Heritage Steakhouse is great) Las Vegas casinos are still pretty mellow during the week. This makes walking through the massive properties pretty quick since there aren’t many people milling about.
The majority of table games were closed since it was midweek. However, one thing really stood out at the blackjack tables – open and closed. Every blackjack game has a Super 4 Progressive side bet.
Yeah, yeah. Almost every casino game has a side bet nowadays but this one stood out. The Super 4 Progressive meter is colorful and bright. Side bets don’t interest me as a player but this is so striking that I became curious about it.
Learn To Play The Super 4 Progressive
Side bets usually aren’t complicated because they typically appeal to less sophisticated gamblers. These side bets rarely need more than a 30-second explanation. The creator of the Super 4 Progressive side bet, AGS, takes a minute to detail how this four card poker style blackjack side bet works.
The payouts are simple and players can win $10 (2-1 on the $5 bet) if the dealer has an Ace showing without being dealt blackjack. The player will win $25 (5-1 on the $5 bet) if the dealer has a blackjack.
This may sound counter-intuitive but the side bet gets fun when the dealer has a blackjack. This is when the game turns into a four card poker hand using the first two cards for the player and the dealer. This is where the possibility of a big jackpot win comes.
Here are the potential winning hand payouts for the $5 Super 4 Progressive bet:
- Pair: $50
- Same color: $100
- Two pair: $200
- Flush: $250
The remaining hands will win progressive jackpots:
- Straight: Minor jackpot
- Three of a kind: Major jackpot
- Royal Flush (Spades, Hearts, Clubs): 10% of Mega jackpot
- Royal Flush (Diamonds): 100% of Mega jackpot
Super 4 Progressive Blackjack wager loses if the dealer doesn’t have an Ace showing or a blackjack. The regular hand with house rules will continue if the hand doesn’t qualify for the side bet.
Huge Side Bet Winners
The biggest shocker for some might be that this blackjack side bet costs $5 extra per hand. Many casinos offer side bets for just $1. The large buy-in is what can make the jackpots grow quickly. In fact, a blackjack player at Maryland Live! casino won $1 million playing the Super 4 Progressive a couple of years ago.
Las Vegas blackjack side bets vary in jackpot size depending on location. The typical side bet buy-in on the Vegas Strip is usually $5 per hand. This grows the jackpot quicker than say a $1 side bet at casinos in downtown Las Vegas and elsewhere around town.
Side bet jackpots on the Vegas Strip can grow quicker than progressives in other markets. For example, Caesars links its progressive system to all of its Las Vegas casinos.
In July, when casinos weren’t very busy, a player at Caesars Palace won nearly $2 million playing Pai Gow Poker. That same day a Flamingo a player won nearly $500,000 on a side bet playing Texas Hold-Em Bonus Poker.
Not all jackpots build up very long to grow so large. A player more recently won over $150,000 from the Blazing 7’s Blackjack Mega Progressive Bally’s in August.
Side bets might not be good bets but the progressives can at least make the experience fun for those who play.

Mohegan Sun has announced they will be 'the ONLY location [of six casinos] in New England' offering Super 4 Progressive Blackjack starting in March. The highly doubtful claim is made 'When the dealer gets Blackjack, everyone at the table wins!' The progressive pot starts at $50K. A 4-card poker hand formed with your cards and the dealer's determines the payout. It will be available 'at most Blackjack tables.' I can't locate information about this specific side bet. Does anyone out there have information, such as a pay table? Rules? House edge? I'll pass on Mohegan Sun's advice to 'ask your friendly Dealer' for offical rules. Yeah. Right.
Most dealers have finished their training.
The side bet is $5 and $5 only. It is not mandatory.
All tables will have this side bet. The circle will be to the left of the blackjack bet as Match The Dealer will be retained in it's usual place.
Nothing can happen unless the dealer has a blackjack. Only then will there be payouts mostly based on poker hands. There's even a payout for cards of the same color, not suits just red or black.
That's it so far and it's subject to change. Can't wait to watch players root for the dealer to get a blackjack. :-(
Sounds like Mohegan Sun is 'all in' on this side bet if they are going to put new felt on every blackjack table. Perhaps that is driven by the progressive jackpot element. If every table is being changed I'm wary of some other undesirable change piggy-backing on the activity, like a change to H17. I'm surprised to hear 'every table' since the pit at the Bow & Arrow bar hasn't had any side bets yet. (That pit seems to be run by a crew separate from the rest of the casino.)
Hmmm... maybe the Pocono and Resorts tables will be part of the jackpot.
Information on this game has not been forthcoming and what little that has should not be considered 100% reliable. Here's what's out there as of today.

Good information, Thanks! With them going all in on it, I'm sure it is a nice HA for them.

Edit: It does seem interesting that they're putting it on all BJ; are they all the same number of decks at their tables? Maybe they'll field different pay tables to compensate.
This bet is $5 only. To play simply place a $5 chip on the sensor. Nothing happens unless the dealer gets a blackjack. When that occurs, players combine their two cards with the dealer's blackjack to make a four card hand. These are the payouts.
Royal Flush (Diamonds) 100% of progressive
Royal Flush 10% of progressive
(Spades, Hearts & Clubs)
Trips $750
Straight $500
Flush $400
Two Pair $300
Same Color $100
Pair $75
Any Hand $25
The progressive, before any play this morning, was at $60,479.16. I don't know if that is a true number or if it will be reset to $50,000.
Original wagers are not returned.
I'm told that every table will have this game, including the $500 minimum pit in the Sky Casino.
In the lower left hand corner of the rack card is an IN BET gaming logo with the website inbetgaming.com.
It should be interesting to see what the house edge is. What say you miplet et al?
15 for 1 if you have any ace or matching face card or a dealt pair.
20 for 1 for all four cards the same color, I presume?
60 for 1 for matching blackjacks (AQ v AQ)
Super 4 Blackjack Progressive Jackpot Winners
80 for 1 for all four cards the same suit100 for 1 for a 20 that completes the AKQJ, 10s can't fit.
150 for 1 for AA or a paired 20 that matches the dealer's face.
10% for the suited 20 that completes the suited AKQJ
100% if it's diamonds.
Not a bad looking game from the casino's standpoint. Looks like it'll be fun for the recreational player because the sting of a dealer blackjack is alleviated (even players who are betting $25 will be happy because WOW LOOK A BONUS). The hands seem simple to read and pay quickly. I'm sure the house edge must be enormous, since the hit frequency is only 4.83%. Any word on whether all payouts are paid out of the progressive jackpot or just the top two?
This might be countable though since a lot of emphasis seems to be placed on face cards.
I wonder if any other casinos have it or will pick it up, perhaps as a $1 bet.

The same Color payout is being evil to my poor spreadsheet. I'll try and finish it tomorrow Wednesday.
